LOTS of updates

So..I survived my first year of grad school! WOOOOO~ 2 more years to go! Yes..."2".

"But I thought it's usually 1-2 years?"
"Um..not if internships are required to graduate."

I feel like there are many changes coming for this year when I get back into school again. I am starting my first year internship in September along with traveling to places that I never been to before. I am both nervous and excited!  Personally, there were ups and downs that took place from last year to the present now, and it has been an interesting journey. Still, that is not why I am here to ramble on about life. I do warn you, it'll be a wordy entry.

I have done some art recently and overcame some of my obstacles. One of them was in April when I tried out for a freelance position in designing an iTouch/iPhone game app for kids. It was by chance that the creator of the game came by my work study job and asked me if I knew any digital illustrator. I decide to take that chance myself to check it out. Scary part for me was finding out that the format he needed has to be strictly in Illustrator and match the style he was looking for. After hours of reviewing from a guidebook and losing sleep, I managed to create the icons. Here they are blown up. I never got that position.

Note that this was supposed to be at 100 x 100 pixels. Think the details are too small to see at that size

In May, it was surprisingly through social networking that I got the opportunity to do illustration again. I was contacted by a Facebook friend on creating a book cover for his mother's book. Honestly, I was so nervous about taking on this project because I felt that I would be rejected once more like my previous attempt. Surprisingly, I learned a lot from my experience in this project, and it was fun for me. I believe the book is going to be out in some weeks from now. After reading the summary, I am quite interested in reading the story itself :) I will post up the other sketches later of the emblem. It was an entertaining moment when I drew scary versions :p
