First of all, I got accepted into Lesley University's graduate program of Expressive Therapies! I will be starting my courses in the fall semester. I have been asked numerous of times about my recent graduation from MassArt on what will happen to my pursuing in illustration, especially with this news of my acceptance into a different program (requiring a lot of intensive catching up to do). I can assure everyone that I still plan to work on improving my portfolio and starting out personal illustration projects, and I will do the best I can to update this blog and my portfolio site on them. Some side note to this will show up later..I am debating on whether to display the professionalism of this explanation of my illustrator position.
Second, I have finally figured out my picture problems! New images can be seen here at http://melodywan.daportfolio.com/. I will post them here now and come back with more process work later on. My internet connection back at home is very poor... so I apologize for this inconvenience!
("Still Life", 2010, Adobe Photoshop)
I will be fixing this image later, for there are some proportion issue in the figure and the layout...

("Fantastic Dinner", 2010. Adobe Photoshop)
This is also a class assignment, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working on this image. I do have plans of expanding this later on. The concept is something random in a restaurant environment. I have been obsessed with gas masks for a while, and I have wanted to incorporate them into my illustrations. So, voila, that is how this image is created~
("Music" booklet, 2010, Adobe Photoshop)
These images are made into a booklet that I printed out (will take picture of it later), and each page measured 5" x 5 ". I made my own brush of the G clef (rather than copy and paste from the internet), so it was fun stamping them all over the bleeding image :) The concept of this book is to play with the color palette and the composition. This include creating a story out of a simple task (such as playing music on a day out).

Top: "Fiery Sass", 2010, acrylic on masonite, 11"x 14")
So, I am not sure if these two pieces are remembered, but I have mentioned about working on them in my last entries! I have displayed them at the Great Burlesque Exposition in Boston, and I have future plans of working in a different mediums for their show again. <--see last entry)
("Escape: Music", 2010, gouache)

("Escape: Balloons", 2010, gouache)

("Escape: Imagination", 2010, gouache)
These following three are my mailer series (a.k.a my promotion postcards). The theme in these three illustrations is escaping from reality. There were some personal connections involved in this idea, and I combined all of them together.
Last, there are updates on side projects! I have received an another one from a family friend, only this time this is more into the graphic design area than illustration. She needs help with a new layout and colors of her hair salon's sign. It would be interesting to try to find an appropriate type for the Chinese name of this salon...These images are made into a booklet that I printed out (will take picture of it later), and each page measured 5" x 5 ". I will be taking some vacations with my loved ones and reference photos. Until then, toodle loo~!
